After our visit to the WWU Planetarium, it would seem timely to have some space science in the news. After a nine-month journey, Phoenix (named after the same mythological bird as Harry Potter's
Order of the Phoenix) will begin digging through the cold dirt of the north polar region. After digging down a few inches, the scientists hope to uncover ice that observations indicate is there. If they find it, that means water (the source of life here on Earth) will have been found on another planet!

How about a 3d picture of the lander's foot pad? You do have those 3d glasses, don't you? This was one of the first pictures sent back to earth on Sunday. This single picture told us a lot about the status of the lander and the environment of the landing site.
